Barry Allen, known as The Flash, is a central character in The CW's "Arrowverse." He first appeared in the second season of the TV show Arrow before headlining his own series, The Flash.
Portrayed by Grant Gustin, Barry Allen is a forensic scientist who gains superhuman speed after being struck by lightning and exposed to chemicals from an exploding particle accelerator at S.T.A.R. Labs. This accident grants him the ability to move at incredible velocities.
As The Flash, Barry dedicates himself to protecting Central City from metahumans (individuals with superpowers) and other threats. He is often seen working with the S.T.A.R. Labs team, which includes Cisco Ramon and Caitlin Snow, and is mentored by Harrison Wells. He also crosses over with other heroes in the Arrowverse, such as Green Arrow and Supergirl.
